Haha, the Robin Hood's cave at Cresswell Crags is a completely different cave. The Robin Hoods Cave I was looking for is somewhere in the bracken besides the railway tunnel at Annesley as marked on all good OS maps. It's also legend that a secret tunnel from the cave to Annesley Hall (or possibly Annesley Castle) once existed but was filled in after a cave-in of the tunnel roof.
ive lived in annesley all my life, allways on adventures as a child, your not far from the cave, it is actually below ground now over the years, but you can still see the sandstone of where it is. i hav a book with old photo of the entrance, and have never seen it elsewhere
